Title IX is a federal law that was passed in 1972 to ensure that male and female students and employees in educational settings are treated equally and fairly. It protects against discrimination based on sex.

How does the SPAN Framework Address Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Title IX?

The student-athlete population at Stanford, as is the case at many educational institutions, consists of a high percentage of underrepresented minorities and many first-generation college students.

Many student-athletes from lower income households arrive at college without a family background in business or the skill set required for networking and career development.

Offerings such as NIL compensation structures tend to benefit a small percentage of high-profile athletes. SPAN works to improve access to career development for all student-athletes.
